About
Overview
By the admission of undergraduate students in the field of Water Science and Engineering, the Faculty of Agriculture was founded in 2008. The faculty was further developed by offering the fields of Horticultural Science and Engineering and Food Science and Industries in 2009 and 2010, respectively. In 2011 and by the admission of undergraduate students in Biotechnology, the number of the offered courses increased to four. This number further increased to five in 2012 by the addition of Biosystem Mechanical Engineering at undergraduate level. Moreover, another field, namely, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants was added in 2013 and the number of offered courses reached six. Later and by the amendments to the curriculum and courses suggested by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the two fields of Horticultural Science and Medicinal plants merged and no students were admitted to the field of Medicinal and Aromatic plants which decreased the number of offered courses to five. Later, the curriculum and the name of the field of Biotechnology changed in the same year and the students were admitted to a field under the name of Plant Production and Genetics.
Currently, the Faculty of Agriculture of Jahrom University admits students at five undergraduate majors, namely, Food Science and Industries Engineering, Water Science and Engineering, Plant Production and Genetics Engineering, Horticultural Science and Engineering and Biosystem Mechanical Engineering. In addition, pursuing the aim of developing postgraduate levels, this faculty has admitted Master's students in the two fields of Food Science and Industry (in Food Technology minor) and Water engineering (in Irrigation and Drainage minor) since September 2007, the first group of master students of which have been successfully graduated.
