Centre for Healthcare and Student Counseling
Overview
Attending university is one of the most significant life events which can give rise to many behavioral conducts. When youths enter the university, they experience a new stage in their life. Although the educational needs are fulfilled at university, university can also turn into a challenging and complex environment. Educational programs, social tasks, decision makings in interpersonal relationships, etc. are all among the factors that can both create educational opportunities on the one hand, and be sources of psychological tensions, on the other. Therefore, the existence of complexities, and students' lack of preparation or being poorly prepared in the ways to manage and control the potential psychological tensions have led the university authorities towards the establishment of centers for counseling and psychological services. The services offered by these centers are both training skills and increasing capabilities of the students as well as preventing psychological tensions and anxiety. In order to achieve the these objectives, Jahrom University, as other other universities, initiated its activities under the direct supervision of the Vice-Chancellor for Student and Cultural Affair and within the macro policies of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology since 2008.
